Danny's Moon Dream

Aimed at the top 8/10 to 15 year old, this is a fast-moving & singing, emotional, topical and often comical POP MUSICAL - again arrangements by the late, great Dave Bainbridge & by the renowned COLIN CATTLE ("Marlene"/"Beauty and the Beast" etc.) for full 2 hour stage production. DANNY'S DREAM, written by IVO MOSLEY was allowed by this great writer and philosopher to be used as DANNY'S MOON DREAM . The sell-out Stage premiere, based on Ivo's script and music and sets by Piers, was in April 1999 put on to full houses by what was then called STAGECOACH YOUTH THEATRE (YORK): video available from Piers, but since then Piers deep froze this book and FREYA, another kid's book, was performed recently and will be one day published, while, in order to do easel work and SONNETS FOR A SIREN finished in 2011 - definitely not a children's book but with handset type and original etchings so totally an ORIGINAL book in an an edition of 20, these sell for a 5 figure sum. Biothe Oxfoird and Cambridge Uni library's bought copies. There are 4 left now of this majestic, large book and PB would welcome enquiries.
The theme of DANNY'S MOON DREAM is the craving for, discovery and re-introduction of LOVE into his dysfunctional family by a worried son, a boy of ten.
It confronts the most serious theme of the next millennium that if humanity is to survive with any quality, love must exercise more power and care than the combined forces of clever machinery run by greedy Men-in Suits.
In fact, DANNY after his dream vividly shows us our future choice for this millennium - a warm heaven or a cold hell on Earth. Its main theme, combining both the rebirth of love in a dome stuck on a ruined Earth followed by the renewal of natural life to our planet, could make it a winner. Like the WIZARD OF OZ, Danny's Dream has been written in all genre of script - from a 26 minute programme for TV/Radio to full 27 song "West End" stage production, SO DO watch this space. Given loving attention, the models were his children and friends, incl. Lorraine Chase and Mike Burns, the actors. Lindisfarne, Mike Harding and others contributed to the music.
Piers owns the copyright to DANNYS MOON DREAM but not DANNYS DREAM although doubtless Ivo Mosley will be involved and play a welcome part if he so wishes in using the music Piers composed for the lyrics. School, for their dramatic productions, are welcome to enquire. The music - over 12 songs - are professionally bound in the Two Act wadges and scored for Keyboard/Organ, Flute, Brass lots of various percussion and guitar and bass - not necessaily ball at in the same 27 songs
Piers & Ivo had DANNY'S DREAM ('book' by Ivo Mosley), performed over 3 days with four (2 perfomances on the Saturday) ) sell-out
performances, by the Stagecoach Youth Theatre of York - now called UPSTAGE
YOUTH THEATRE for whom Piers, Judi Dench and Alan Ayckbourn were all
once patrons. DD in April 2000 was a huge affair with 150 costumes for
51 in the cast!
Piers & Ivo used the renowned York Arranger , Colin
Cattle to put Piers' score into shipshape. The late great John Cooper was
the Director. Piers made some of the set designs. A superb choreographer
helped the Stagecoach Youth Theatre production which went brilliantly PB has a video for anyone's
look for free.
To help, Piers & Ivo had in 2003, a CD made with loads of famous people (incl
Lorraine
Chase/Mike Harding/ Lindsifarne/the RSC actor High Quarshie
and the
renowned stage & TV actor Mike Burns (Brittas Empire was
a hit part of his) , all in arrangments by ex Peter Gabriel arranger the late Dave
Bainbridge).
There is availabe a
CD of all the songs in order of performance, Piers owns the copyright for it under a slightly different title of DANNY'S MOON DREAM, Ivo under the original title of DANNY'S DREAM though this may change It is available for £1000 for schools with all music EXACTLY as musicians and a conductor would need.
Piers' wife died in 1999 and he put aside the whole DANNY
Musical to concentrate on his main career as a Fine Artist but in August 2019 he resumed with FREYA which was performed throughout Wensleydale in various venues. BOTH Musicals are available for Schools and grander places.
